The new solution, called Roam Home Voice, helps operators save expenses and avoid installation of expensive IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) infrastructure. The entire process is completely transparent to the user, who uses his regular phone user interface to make a call. The solution is based on a client-server model. The client is located on the device, transparent to the user. The server, located at the operator’s center, receives the mobile-originated calls over IP from the client.
Roam Home Voice is another step in CALLUP's strategy to provide cost saving tools and solutions to cellular operators. Recently, the company announced the Roam Home SMS solution, which enables operators to use the Internet for SMS delivery, significantly reducing SMS expenses. SMS is one of the most expensive services for which operators still pay when their subscribers are roaming, whether in the operator's country or abroad.
