NewNet Partners with CALLUP and Neusoft to Address Growing Demand for VoWiFi and Enhanced Chat

NewNet integrates with Android client apps to provide cellular operators with a complete solution for new VoWiFi and enhanced Chat and SMS based on RCS

CHICAGO, IL, DECEMBER 06, 2015. NewNet Communications Technologies, a global leader in mobility technologies, CALLUP, a provider of Value Added Services (VAS) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) for the telecom industry, and Neusoft Mobile Solutions, a provider of IP communication client solutions, today announced a strategic partnership. Under the agreement, NewNet will integrate CALLUP’s Wi-Fi Calling and Neusoft ChatSMS rich communications clients into NewNet’s Krypton line of messaging products for video share, location share and chat via Wi-Fi hotspots. NewNet partners with these client vendors to offer the combined solution worldwide. The solution is currently deployed at Teleena in the Netherlands.

Poor cellular phone coverage in buildings is one of the most critical problems for mobile communications today. CALLUP resolves this issue with an Android client that works with NewNet’s Krypton RCS platform to allow subscribers to take advantage of Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity. An installed Android CALLUP app seamlessly intercepts voice call requests and routes them via the (home) Wi-Fi router to the carrier’s Krypton RCS-solution. Algorithms inspect IP quality and Wi-Fi signal performance prior to call initiation to ensure quality. In addition, calls placed to the handset are also attempted over Wi-Fi when the client is connected and registered, enabling IP-based quality and cost savings. Quality control algorithms again allow the call to be received over Wi-Fi or signal back to the network when it’s better to receive the call over the mobile network in poor Wi-Fi conditions.

“WI-FI calling empowers operators with the ability to directly enhance loyalty via a service that delivers improved voice and messaging quality plus cost savings to their subscribers,” said Alon Roth, CALLUP’s CEO. “CALLUP’s integration with NewNet’s Krypton RCS platform also enables operators to provide a compelling alternative to OTT competitors while ensuring a seamless upgrade path when native RCS handsets become prevalent.”

The Neusoft ChatSMS client provides subscribers with an OTT like chat service app (chat-app) which also includes Video-Share, Location-Share and File-Share. Neusoft’s ChatSMS client in combination with the Krypton RCS platform provides a way for operators to deploy GSMA Association’s joyn℠ and also add RCS functionality to 3G/4G/LTE/Wi-Fi networks.

“Neusoft’s ChatSMS client in combination with the Krypton RCS platform and its SMS support makes this chat-app instantly able to communicate with 7 billion subscribers around the globe,” said Markus Jakobsson, Neusoft’s Sales and Product Manager. “Operators can step beyond OTT chat silo-ed alternatives with seamless bi-directional chat to SMS that subscribers will appreciate for its geographic reach and service independent mobility.”

In addition, Neusoft has packaged its ChatSMS app for Android with a Service Ribbon which allows seamless use of enriched services during any mobile or VoWiFi call. The Service Ribbon displays three overlay buttons enriching the mobile or Wi-Fi call with video, chat or location capabilities.

“Innovative communication such as VoWiFi and next generation chat are clear examples of services that benefit subscribers and mobile operators," said Jonathan Huberman, NewNet’s president and CEO. “NewNet’s Krypton RCS platform in partnership with smartphone client apps from CALLUP and Neusoft allow mobile operators to cost-effectively encourage subscriber loyalty, stand out from OTT competition, and increase bottom line success.”

NewNet’s Krypton IP communication platform is based on GSMA’s RCS 5.2 standard. Krypton allows operators to deploy VoIP and Video Calling, Video Sharing, Instant Messaging, Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC) solutions, RCS Network API, Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Presence enabler, Common Message Store, Best Efforts Voice, VoLTE, Wi-Fi offload, and seamless IP to SMS integration functionality with or without an IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) core.
